A short catch-up this week to give some good news for business

Despite the negative international news emerging from the markets recently, with warnings of slowdowns and major companies reducing their marketing spend in 2025, the online sales news for the UK is showing a more positive outlook.
In figures reported in June 2025 online sales across the UK showed an increase of 2.3% in online spending, with the share of the total retail sales made online rising to 27.8%. Figures suggest a resilient and growing online retail market.
According to a recent survey conducted by Retail Week, the vast majority of retailers are optimistic about 2025 with 85% expecting year-on-year sales growth.
So how can small businesses grab their share of this sales increase? Some of the areas that consumers are expecting and in fact demanding are:
- User-friendly websites and apps – patience with poor layouts or confusing sales paths has evaporated, is your sales offering easy to use?
- Clear Value Proposition – Is it immediately obvious to visitors where they benefit from purchasing from your company?
- Personalisation – Have you investigated how you can tailor your marketing and sales offering? If not then this is definitely an area you should look into for 2025.
